Voices from Helambu
A Film from Helambu. In 2022 the Just Nepal Foundation implemented a short anticipatory ACTION, AA project called, “Prepared for the 2022 Floods”.
Basically, it was a two-month intervention which focused on preparing local communities for possible floods and protecting children at risk from the monsoon. Many had been taken by surprise by the devastating 2021 monsoon rains where they lost everything. Activities included: storing basic food and medical supplies for already malnourished children with disabilities and vulnerable groups. Training in psychosocial / coping strategies and child protection, training of youth rescue teams, dissemination of information on local radio, support to families and elderly at risk by relocating them and the resettlement of child led families living close to rivers to other families during the monsoon.
Here you have a little film titled, Voices from Helambu where people talk about some of their experiences with the intervention.
